    Greetings all,

Running ME - I cannot access the network settings in the control panel. I receive the following memo:
Your system administrator disabled the network control panel.

    Anyone know of a fix?
    :)

Go to Start -Run and type in for example : Network.txt and "maybe you might find something helpful there, here's the whole list. Also if you reboot in safe mode and awnser Im guessing here "Another program instructed me here" or Diagnois ... (it is 1 of the few listed there) there's a help tree to follow. What a pain in the... it is to get a Window ME to help. lol. Im sure the moderators may have more precision help for you. GL !

    Contents "” Readme Documentation
Readme files contain late-breaking information that's not included in printed documentation or online Help. This topic describes and displays the major Readme files included with Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition.

Note Only major Readme files are listed. Your Windows Millennium Edition CD contains more specialized Readme files, such as the .TXT files in various driver folders.

    Important Files
The file setup.txt (located on your Windows Millennium Edition CD) discusses installing Windows Millennium Edition, including requirements and troubleshooting information.

The Microsoft end-user license agreement, license.txt, is located
on your hard disk in the folder that contains your help files. For example: C:\Windows\Help

The file intl.txt (located on your Windows Millennium CD) provides information to help you install and configure Pan-European regional settings.

    General Information
faq.txt: Answers frequently asked questions about Windows Millennium Edition.

general.txt: Provides information about startup problems, disk tools, disks and CDs, drivers, and removable media. This file also contains last-minute information received too late to include in the other readme files. For example, if you have a question about a printer, it would be helpful to look in General.txt as well as in Printers.txt.

network.txt: Provides information about installing and using network servers.

support.txt: Provides information on the different types of assistance available to you.

tips.txt: Contains useful tips and tricks you can use in Windows Millennium Edition.

    Hardware and Drivers
display.txt: Provides information about configuring display drivers and obtaining additional display drivers.

hardware.txt: Helps you troubleshoot hardware problems. You may also need to refer to general.txt, printers.txt, or mouse.txt for specific problems.

mouse.txt: Provides information about troubleshooting mouse and keyboard problems.

printers.txt: Provides information about troubleshooting printer problems.

    Run it!

Hopefully it will not ask for a password. If it does, the first time jut hit enter.

If that don't work, it don't look good.

So try all the usernames and passwords you remember you ever used on this computer.

Once you get in, read carfully look at the networking section. You can do only one thing in Poledit but the way the questions are posed take some thought, just read the entry carfully. "You can turn on or off, or enable or disable or Allow or diallow ".

But the writer of this program seemed to ask in an unusual way sometime almost like a trick question.

    Good luck

    Mike
