Compac Presario 1200, W98 se. I'm receiving the following message everytime I open control panel :
    Invalid user identifier {SM_RC_BAD_USERID}{11}.
Does anyone know how to eliminate this error message?

Go to start, Find, files and folders.
    [Type in] *.cpl
    and look in C:

Try to open each one. The bad one will give you the same error. But be sure to try them all as there could be more than one.

    Thanks Train,
I found 28 of which 5 didn't open anything. Do I just delete these?

    Thanks again,
With your help I found the troublemaker. It was a third party program *.cpl from a program that had been deleted. I had to remove the remnants from the registry and that cleared it. I really appreciate the help. I had tried everything that I knew to do, and once again I've learned something new. The other 4 were also from uninstalled programs and I deleted them. The website was also helpful. Glad I found this BBS.

Thank you for posting back. Now should someone were to do a search, they know what works.
