    I have a cute dog I want to add to my emails. I can put it as an attchment, but I can't put it as a signiture. I don't want to manually add it each time. Is there a way to add a jpeg as a signitre in oe? Thank you, Chris.

    Chris--Signatures in OE must either be .txt or .htm files. (See Signatures under OE Help) Can you make an .htm file out of your "cute dog.jpeg" file? If not, I think you may be stuck with having to Insert|Picture each time manually.

    I opened it and "saved as" but none of the two you have was a choise. Can you change the format? I could email it to you and you could send it back? Let me know, Chris.

    Chris,

    This method may work - I've only followed it through so far, but try it.

    Open Word (2000 in my case) and type in/import your signature. Insert the cute little fella as a picture and save the file as *.htm.

    Then insert into OE as Jim mentions.

    Hi, Lonny ~

    You can 'insert' anything to an e-mail, but what Chris is wanting is to use the 'signature' feature, whether automatically or manually, to be added at the bottom of all outgoing e-mail. This can only be done with .htm/.html or .txt files.

    I have been following this thread and trying to find an easier way for Chris to accomplish this - this is actually a pretty easy thing to do, but perhaps too complicated to expound on here with the apparent user level seemingly displayed if one is not familiar w/ .htm/.html.

    @Chris ~ If you really dig this doggy pic, send it to me and I will create the stationery file for you. :cool:

    I tried that and I got dog.htm.jpeg
    I looked on the internet and decided I spent to much time on this. I must not have the right program to do it easaly. I'll send it to BruceKrymow. Maybe he can send it back AND post it here so others can see it also (He's sooo cute!)

    Hi, Chris et al ~

    Chris now has his cute dog signature file. There are several ways to accomplish what he wanted, but in this case I just created a very simple .htm file embedded with the doggie picture like this:
    Code:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
    <DIV align=center>
    <IMG src= "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\dog.jpg" ALT= "Woof! Woof! ">
    </DIV>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    I sent it to him in a .zip and suggested he extract the two files:
    • 'ChrisDogSig.htm'
    • 'dog.jpg'
    to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\ which is the default location for Outlook Express stationery in Win98 & XP. We could've put it anywhere, but this is a convenient storage place for like files.

    Now that the required .htm file is available, let's enable it as a 'Signature':
    • Open Outlook Express > 'Tools' > 'Options...'
    • 'Signatures' tab > uncheck 'Add signatures to all outgoing messages' > click 'New' button
    • Click 'Rename' button > change 'Signature #1' to 'ChrisDogSig' > hit enter
    • Under 'Edit Signature', click 'File' radio button> click 'Browse' button
    • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\
    • In 'Files of type:' box, select 'HTML files (*.htm; *.html)'
    • Select 'ChrisDogSig.htm' > click 'Open' button
    • Click 'Apply' > 'OK'
    Now the signature file is set up for use! To use it, compose your message as you always do but now just go to 'Insert' > 'Signature' before you send.

    BruceKrymow, thank you very much. I like your work (he sent me some other stuff also).
    With all the stuff you've done, I can see you really know your .html
    When I was learning about computers I skipped html because it ****** me off. I like the website also. When I get XP I'll get the XP Smoker (I think that's what it's called).
    A guy reported that he tested his computer (pcpitstop) with Win 98, then again with XP. Win 98 was way faster then XP with the same computer. That's why I've stuck with 98 but will change eventually. Thanks again, Chris.

    Hi, Chris ~

    Glad it worked out! :cool:

    Now, if you ever want to change your signature to another picture, all you have to do is first, drop a copy of whatever picture you want in the stationery folder, then right-click on the 'ChrisDogSig.htm' > 'Edit' and change the name of the 'dog.jpg' to the name of whatever the new picture is.

    If you do this a few times, you may well find yourself unwittingly becoming familiar w/ HTML. ;)
