Networking 3+ pc's

    Hey guys,
    I would like some help on networking. I pretty much know what im doing when network 2 pc's together, but i have no idea how to do 3. Do i need a hub or a switch? Where do i go from there?

    Any help much appreciated.

    That would be the easiest. Hub being the cheapest.

    And if you have dsl/cable internet connection, I will recommend a router with NAT built in. Fact being, they are scarey easy to work with.

    Each computer will need a nic and a cat 5 or 6 cable to connect it to the hub / switch /router.

    If you go with a router, I would suggest a Linksys model BEFSR41. I networked my two systems with one. I also share my cable Internet service through it. It was very easy to hook up. I think they are running about $45 right now. You can get them at Radio Shack, Staples, Best Buy, etc.

    I dont need to share an internet connection so i guess i dont need a router. What i want, is to use one of my computers as a file server, and have the other two connected to it. What do i need to do this?

    A Router with a four port switch like Minnesota Mike recommended would still be a good price/value choice. You can also get just a switch or a hub, but you will eventually be thankful if you buy a router with a four port switch now.
