    Start > Logoff.
Log in as Administrator, and edit your accout from limited to admin priviledge.

If you log off, and don't see an Administrator account on the desktop, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL (sometimes twice) and then in the box, type "Administrator" for the login, and leave the password blank. That will recreate the Administrator account if there isn't one already.

Thanks for the tip Jim, As a single logon my Admin account had gone walkabout a long time ago. Nice and simple way to get it back. The bonus was that the dialup connection did what it's supposed to do and stayed up as well!

Try booting into Safe Mode (press F8 after the BIOS POST, just before Windows starts to load).

I don't have a visible Administrator account on my computer, but if I boot into Safe Mode I can select it. Then it uses the Windows default settings (which are completely different from my normal settings).

JSS3rd - if you want the administrator as an option when you boot up, directions for getting it are Here. Simple registry setting change.

    Newt ...

Perhaps you missed my point, which is that I DON'T want to see a logon screen when I boot the computer. So, I have deleted the Administrator account from C:/documents and settings, and the computer boots directly into Windows, with my preferred settings. Then, if I logoff to refresh my settings, the logon screen shows only my account ... no Administrator.

On the rare occasion when I need to logon without using my settings, booting into Safe Mode presents me with a logon screen which DOES show an Administrator account. Because there is no Administrator account already established, it uses the Windows default settings.

I hope this makes sense. :)

    Hi, Newt, et al ~

You can get the Admin account on the 'Welcome' screen only in XP Pro.

The only way to get into the Admin account in XP Home is via 'Safe Mode'. :)
