I recently bought a new coputer for our church office. I gave the old computer to the pastor. Both computer have a internet connection to the same local service. However most but not all of the e-mail for the church office computer is being received on the computer at the pastor's home. How can this happen and hoe do i correct it without doing a complete format of harddrive.

    Thanks

Not quite the case. The email is being pulled to that computer. Almost surely the main Church account is still on it and still active so every time the Pastor does a send & receive, he gets what's there. You can have lots of accounts on the one PC and all looking for their new stuff.

Since there could be times when the main PC is down and he will need to get it all, easiest to set the Church account on the Pastor's PC to not look for mail unless specifically told to do so. If you will say what email application he is using, we can tell you exactly what to do.

I can't give you step-by-step just now since I'm at work and have outlook. But there is an option in the accounts area to have an account checked (at the ISP) for new mail regularly or just on demand.

If you set for the on demand option, no mail should appear unless the user specifically goes in and asks for it.

If you need a how-to for this, I'll post it when I'm at home with OE or someone else will. For now, let me move this to the IE/OE section since it is purely an app item.

If you want to completely remove the account, go to the tools menu in OE and then accounts. Click on the mail tab and find the church account in the window below. Click on it once to select it and then click the remove button.

    Solution #1

On the Pastor's computer. Open OE and go to Tools>Accounts>Highlight the account>Properties>Advanced Tab and put a check in the box that says leave a copy of messages on the server. While you are there, click on the question mark at the top and click on the "leave a copy....." for explanation of this action.

    Solution #2

Most ISP's offer several email addresses on the same account. (Mine is 4 some are 10).

Get another address for the pastor and set up his computer with his own identity. He can then check his email account for his messages and not bother the ones for the church.

Do you have two separate accounts at the ISP? If so then simply set up his account on his computer and remove the church account from his.
