This will probably sound dumb to those who have done something similar, but...

I have two PCs - a desktop and a laptop, both running Win2k. I also have 3Com Bluetooth USB dongles for each. The I bought one to connect my laptop to my mobile phone via BT; the second followed on when I realised I could use them for basic file transfer. I did think about a simple home network a while back but it didn't seem worth the trouble for simple file transfer - I only need the laptop at home if my wife is using my main PC.

Anyway, I'm guessing there should be an easy way to use the BT connection for a simple one-to-one connection via the virtual COM ports set up. Anyone done this?

Alternatively, I suppose I could get a BT network hub - again, anyone done this?

I'm looking for something nice and simple - the beauty would be being able to access files on my desktop via my laptop without having to interrupt my wife's work. I don't want to cable anything and I don't really need high speed; my internet connection is just ISDN (no broadband in my area) - the BT 1Mbit is plenty fast enough.

Just following a train of thought: W95 had a facility to set up a simple network over the serial port - not very fast but was fine for simple file transfer. Is this still available in Win2k? I've had a poke around but can't find anything about it.
