A whimsical thought perhaps, but is it possible to insert smilies in an OE email?

    PeteC--Sure.
Easiest is to download the smilie to your PC.
then compose your email. Whereever you want to insert a smilie, insert cursor, click Insert|Picture|browse to where the smilie is|click on it\click Open\OK. This assumes the smilie is a .jpg, .bmp or .gif file. And before you start you have to be sure your setting when you click on Format is "Rich Text (HTML)" and that the "Send pictures with messages" at the bottom of that same drop down list is checked.

(When all other methods fail, read OE Help searching for "Insert ")
"To insert a picture into a message

Click the place in the message where you want the image to appear.
On the Insert menu, click Picture, and then click Browse to find the image file.
Enter Layout and Spacing information for the image file as needed.
    Notes

If you cannot select the Picture command, make sure HTML formatting is turned on by clicking the Format menu in the message window and then clicking Rich Text (HTML). A black dot appears by the command when it is selected.
If message recipients are not able to view your inserted images, on the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Send tab, click HTML Settings, and then make sure that Send pictures with messages is selected. Then resend your message.
To insert a background picture into your message, in the message window, on the Format menu, point to Background, and then click Picture. Click the Browse button to search for the file you want to use. "

    E-mail smilies?

I'm sure Jim's suggestion will work just fine but I'm a lazy S.O.B. and this is what works for me.

Do a Google search for Schmaili.

It is shareware but, they do let you use about 15-20% of what they have for free. :D

Fun stuff, this, with just one click.

Sorry to be saying this Airplane, but DON'T GO TO HOTBAR!!!! It is SPYWARE! Just spent 2 days working with a guy to get it off his computer. He was having lots of trouble with it. I have also read in lots of other places how bad it is. Just do a google search for smilies and maybe you'll find some to download.

    :)

    Hi Panda.

Thanks for the warning. Fortunately Hotbar rang a bell as soon a I read Airplane's post - seemed to remember that it was one that Spybot searched for.

Anyway very happy with and my friends somewhat amused by Schmaili

No doubt the fascination will wear off with the passing of time, but for now it's a bit of fun :)

    Inserting into email

This sent me to another thought and I wanted to insert my personal signature into my email.

I scanned it, worked out the background in Photoshop, and inserted it as a picture. Works fine

Probably can bypass the photoshop by scannng on a white ground.

Anyone know if I can use it as my default signature
