Just a week or two ago NS 7.02 has started trying to access my floppy drive when I click on bookmarks. the first time on any new page I surf too. after I click once on a page it seems that it goes okay when I stay on that page.

I've searched the forum but it seems like I'm the only one to have this problem.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    TIA.

    My system is as follows:
    ASUS P4S8X motherboard
    512 megs ram
    Pentium 4 2.53 gig.
    C: 125 gig. Western Digital
    M: 30.7 gig. Maxtor

Check out your bookmarks to see if you have a reference to a file on the A:\

Also, clear out your cache and your history.

Other than that, I cannot right now think of any thing that might cause that.

    Hi jtilla,

In addition to Brooks expert advice, the problem may be caused by anti-virus software, such as McAfee's VShield and Norton Anti-Virus Auto-Protect.

    For McAfee Vshield:

    * right-click an icon from the Taskbar and select "Properties "
    * under "Scan Floppies On" from "Detection" tab
    * uncheck the "Shutdown" box.

    For Norton AntiVirus Auto-protect:

    * right-click an icon from the Taskbar and select "Options "
    * click "Advance" button and under the "Check floppies "
    * uncheck the "Check floppies when reboot computer" box.
    OR
    * uncheck the "Scan floppies for boot viruses when shutting down Windows "

This may not be the problem, but another option for checking it out. This is from personal experience.

    Brooks,
Thanks for your quick reply, even though I labeled it with the title for my other post soon to follow. Your auggestion seems to have fixed the problem.
I never even thought about having bookmarked my A: drive.

    Ramona,
I think Brooks had the right answer. At any rate things seem back to normal. However I'm not quite following your suggestion. I don't remember now, why, but I have no programs in my taskbar, but I do have some in my quick launch bar, including a shortcut to my floppy drive. when I right click on them I just get a "shortcut" location. I believe I have seen the page your talking about, but I don't recall how I got there.

Thanks for your quick reply also.

Lower right hand portion beside the Time is where she is talking about.

It is called the system tray and usually your anti-virus program will have an icon there to show you that it is running.
