    "IF" XP is on its own drive or partition, go to a cmd prompt and type:

    Convert X:/FS:NTFS

    X= drive letter

    I take it this means "no problems "? I have an XP install on "C" partition with NTFS, while my other partitions "D, E, F, & G" are still FAT32. Will your command work without destroying data? Do you run the command prompt from within XP or from a reboot to command?

    TIA!

    Converting from FAT 32 > NTFS is merely a change of file system - it does not affect your data! - providing that you CONVERT - FORMATTING will destroy your data of course.

    See 'convert' in Help and Support

    I feel that I should point out that the Convert utility has been known to go wrong on occasion

    You shouldnt need to reformat but I'd never try this without backing up any important data first

    When I ran the command I ran it from the command prompt
    I told me it could not get exclusive rights did I want to allow this to happen then it finally told me it would do the job when I rebooted which it did

    it is suggested that you take a backup of your data before you do it but it is not complusery
