When I boot up the PC there seems to be a lull at a certain point that I don't remember having before (lasts about 20 - 30 seconds).

I did a step by step boot to see where it was happening and it is right after I say 'yes' to "Mouse.vxd ". Why would this cause a lull in the boot process? What is this file doing/for? It is referenced in the SYSTEM.INI by line "mouse=*vmouse, msmouse.vxd" in the "[386Enh]" section.

There is also another prompt that I'm not sure about:
    "Override standard VTDAPI? "
which defaults to 'Y(es)' if you just hit enter.
What is VTDAPI for and why would win98 want to override it at
    boot time by default?

The rest of the prompt I went through look ok and seem to run through fine.

    Thx for any enlightenment.

    Hi mikenowo

I had just found and tried it last week, bootlog analizer
be sure to make a new bootlog,, with selective starup

It wont though tell why theres a lag, you might post back with results so someone with win 98 can try to help.. not I.

    Regards
    Lonny
