Hello, I know that I'm going to have trouble explaining this. Please bear with me. Okay, when I download the pictures from my Digital camera into "My Documents" then into a folder I named "My Pictures" it was great. When I pointed my cursor (Mouse) at the name of the file it showed the picture to the left of it. Okay, then I installed Editing software (MGI PhotoSuite) for example and when I pointed cursor, no more picture to the left. I forget what the little icon looked like at the front of the files name. Now the icon looks like the tiny white square with the microsoft flag in it. The OPEN WITH window pops up but i never know what to use to open my JPEG file with. Also when I point to the file it tells the size, jpeg, date etc. but no picture. I uninstalled MGI PhotoSuite and that what kind of icon was left in its place. Hopefully someone can help..sorry for confusion,,

When in My Pictures, right click in a blank area, go to View, then As Web Page, you should get the preview to the left back.
The thing with the icons is that is the default icon for a file type not associated with a program. By default it would have been IE. I would recommend using Irfanview for free.

Hi Mark,,thank you very, very much for getting back to me. Okay I right clicked in the area of the "My Pictures" and the check mark was already in WEB PAGE. I'm going to download Iranview and see if that helps me out. I still don't see the thumbnail but the info for the thumbnail is there. Thanks & I'll let you know how I make out Mark :)

It seem the file folder.htt was corrupted. That is the file that actually gives you the preview via JS. You could try replacing that file using Sfc.Exe or the System File Checker. The one you want to replace is C:\Windows\Web\Folder.Htt. It is a hidden file, though SFC should show it when finding it.

Sorry Mark,I'm a pain in butt

Thanks for all the help Mark. First the good news,,I LOVE the Irfanview program, its just great! Simple to use, which is always a BIG help to me :( Now the bad, kinda, I used SFC, put in disc, it found 1 corrupt file, was not the file we are looking for . Then I used the other (bottom) choice for finding a file. I placed the file C:\Windows\Web\Folder.Htt in the space and it replaced the file from my CD. Now the pain part,,it didn't help me with my problem of showing the thumbnail when I point to file in "My Pictures" though :(
Mark, I guess I can live without seeing the thumbnail, you have been a great deal of help to me and I thank you.
    regards,,Paul
