Netscape 4.75 crashes as soon as it loads.

worked fine yesterday. Now as soon as I get the page to come up I get the "this program has performed illegal operation ". How can I get it to work again? Is there a way to reinstall from the computer files since I do not have a disk? I have windows 98se if you need this info. Thanks all.

I would suggest that you start over. Follow these instructions for doing a clean install of Netscape. I would also suggest going to a higher version. I use 4.78 and find it very stable. You can download any version from here. DO NOT go with any version of 6.x.

Before you uninstall your current version, backup your User folder. You can then keep all your important info. Here are the instructions for backing up your User folder. I backup mine every week, just in case something happens. Just create another folder, i.e. "Netscape Backup" and backup into there. That way, you will always have your current info and settings ready to go.

Well not sure why,but I had burned a cd of netscape from my files on computer and decided to put that in to see if I would get the illegal message. I didn't,so than I decided to get to netscape from the desktop icon like I always had before. This time I didn't get the illegal message,not sure why but glad it works now. One of those things that make ya go HMMMMMMMM! LoL Thanks again Mike for your quick response.
