    Hey all,
I thought this was a feature of XP (im useing Home).

When connnected to the internet as one user, are you spose to be able to "switch users" and remain conected to the internet, so the new user logging in can use that connection?

cause at the moment when ever you "switch users" it logs off the internet??

    please help.
    regards

    Hi red.........

I very much doubt that you can switch users and stay connected to the Internet.

As I understand it each user has his/her own profile which may/may not include an internet connection.

When you change users you change to the new profile and as new user you have not connected to the internet so the connection is dropped.

The other point is that each user will have his/her own ISP account - for security purposes, if nothing else, remaining connected when switching users gives the new user access to the previous users account - not a good idea.

Windows does not know that the identities/profiles you use both relate to you - each user is unique and is treated as a separate entity.

That's my guess anyway - hope it helps :)

    Cool, great, thanks!!!!!

That worked straight away, im glad you knew that one.
The only problem there is with it is that it comes up with the "Connect or Stay Offline" Box every time you change users.. Which wouldnt be a problem for me, but the customers, we all know what user are like, think the end of the world is coming just because there is some msg on the screen.......

    Thanks Again,
    Regards

I, too, am using XP Home, and have 3 users set up. Just switched between all 3, and both internet and e-mail were immediately available. Don't understand your problem. Of course, I'm on cable, which means all of us are connected at all times, so maybe this is the difference. What is your ISP connection?

Since we're all one happy family, we hardly ever bother switching between users. I'm the main honcho, and we all click on my user name on logon. But, we each have our own e-mail IDENTITY. Mine comes up first, by default, but a simple SWITCH IDENTITY click is all that is needed to access any of the other two.

Privacy is not a concern. We each respect each other's. My wife doesn't read my ***** enlargement spams, and I don't read her pms spams.

I think the difference is that i made the user accounts (3) and then the ineternet connection.
Im on dial up, and seeing as thou that the dial accounts are user profile based.
I assumed that is why it needs to re-connect after each logon.

anyway it all works fine now, once again thanks.
