Lost my hide icons icon

    im running xp pro.i defraged and ran disk fix to tidey things up.when i rebooted my icon at the bottom was gone that lets you hide your start up icons.i checked properties in the task bar and at the bottom of the menu its still checked ,the one saying hide inactive icons.not really being the end of the world problem,if anyone has any ideas please post.thanks

    Had the same problem with my XP Home when I first got XP. Every1 elses worked fine apart from mine then one day it suddenly just appeared. Yet another ****up from M$. Sorry I cant give a solution, just to tell you that you aint the only 1 its happened to. :(

    it finally worked by going to customize at the bottom right of the task bar menu after right clicking taskbar. hitting properties,then customize,then where it says current items,i changed the pull down menu of the first item from hide always to always show then apply-ok and closed it out.rebooted and it came back.now i did do this several times,changing showing-to hide-always show ect. till it worked.basically try different ways then apply ok ect and reboot.hope this helps.let me know what if anything it worked for you.peace
