I know this may be in the wrong Forum - but it may be Win2k specific - I know not!

    Often, usually happens several times in one evening, other eve's not at all, I get dropped from game servers (Counter Strike) whilst in game and the console appears with the following info;

"Your connection has been terminated because of memory corruption on your computer.

If you continue playing without resolving this problem, your computer may configure Half Life's anti cheat system, causing you to be banned from playing on secure servers "

    Which memory could be corrupted????
    RAM (512Mb)
    Graphics (128Mb Geforce 4 ti 4200)

Anybody throw any lite on the problem, please?

Started happening about 6 weeks ago. Can't link it to any particular action I did.

I have CS retail (HL Generations) with standard 1.5 patch from
counter-strike.net and some new (two days ago) custom sounds (which friends have been using for some time).

Hasn't dropped me for a while, but did it 3 times tonight

    HELP, PLEASE!

I do suffer total system lock ups on the system - no pattern to when or why.

    Regards

If you have 1 stick of 512, swap it with another and see if it still happens. Maybe you could trade temporarily with a friend if you don't have another computer to pull it out of.

If you have multiple sticks of memory that add up to 512, try running the game with one of the sticks at a time to see if you cn isolate a bad one.

That "error" message seems very suspect to me. It's too badly written to be official. No coder for Sierra would ever use "memory corruption" it would be "Exception error ". They have even misspelt Half-Life , note the lack of a hyphen and the incorrect usage of an apostrophe. There are others but i shaln't bother!

It seems more likey someone has found a way of kicking you off and is doing it for the hell of it.

As a precaution i would uninstall the game, and then manually delete the directory you installed it in, then reinstall and use the Sierra auto update thing to repatch. Also perform a virus scan of your system.

    SORTED IT!

A friend of mine had a similar problem, said he had a virus that pccillin did not pick up.

So, I uninstalled pc cillin 2002 and installed avg (used before and always been a useful anti viral program)

My first full scan found a Win32/deloder virus.

System is running sweeter than ever.

    Just for your info peeps
