    I would like to insert a gif file in my signature file in OE 6. But all I get is a place holder and not the gif. I there a way to do this?

    I think you may need to use a default stationery. Tools\Options, click on Compose. You will see a tab labeled Create New, click on it and you will get the Stationery Wizard. I never done it myself, but dabbled as a curiosity. Good luck!

    I have used the stationary. Yes I can insert a gif file in stationary but the location of the gif is top center or bottom. So when you add test the gif gets over written. I am looking to add the gif to a signature file.

    You need to do it in HTML and in OE select Tools, Options, Signatures Tab and enter the file name at the bottom of the tab.

    If you find it difficult, email me and I'll send you the code.

    Thanks for the reply. I used FrontPage and inserted the gif into the blank sheet. I saved it as an htm file. I made that file the default signature. I opened a new email and all I get is a place holder. Any more ideas?

    Make the extension HTML and make sure the code and gif are in the same folder. And, of course give the full path, e.g. C:\........ in the file box.

    I don't know the code. I just opened frontpage and inserted the gif into it then saved the file. Should I have done something else?

    I could email you the file so you could look at it.

    OLDSALTY--If you want to use Insert|Signature, the signature has to be either a .txt or .htm file.
    However, with just a click or two more, you can use a .gif file (for example, an animated .gif) as the signature by putting your cursor where you want the signature and then clicking Insert|Picture|Browse to where the .gif file is|highlight it|click Open|OK.
    Also before you start you have to have the settings in Format as a bullet before "Rich Text (HTML)" and a check before "Send Pictures with messages ".
    Get more details from OE Help under Insert and Signatures.

    BurrWalnut sent me this: "You will need to do 2 things. Edit the file with notepad and insert the full path in the line 4 lines from the end where it says "src =..." then save it or rename it with html as the extension." and it worked. Thank You BurrWalnut

    My html signature file "hammer.html" is kept here: C:\Documents and Settings\Ronald\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures
    My gif file "hammer.gif" is kept here: C:\My Images
    I inserted a picture in FrontPage 2002 and typed my name thusly less the *:
    ***
    Ron

    (Picture here)

    Scanned by Norton AntiVirus 9.05.15
    ***
    Then I saved the file as hammer.html.
    Opened it with notepad. Inserted the path to the gif as BurrWalnut suggested.
    If you look at "src=" I inserted "C:/My Images/Hammer.gif" After loading it as my signature file it was changed to the red type below.
    I think "file:///" is equal to "/Desktop/My Computer/ "
    The code follows:
    <html>

    <head>
    <meta http-equiv= "Content-Language" content= "en-us ">
    <meta name= "GENERATOR" content= "Microsoft FrontPage 5.0 ">
    <meta name= "ProgId" content= "FrontPage.Editor.Document ">
    <meta http-equiv= "Content-Type" content= "text/html; charset=windows-1252 ">
    <title>New Page 1</title>
    </head>

    <body>

    <p>&nbsp;</p>
    <p>Ron&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </p>
    <p>
    <img border= "0" src= "file:///C:/My%20Images/Hammer.gif " width= "150" height= "123 "></p>
    <p><font size= "4" color= "#008080 ">Scanned by Norton Antivirus 9.05.15</font></p>

    </body>

    </html>
