when I perform a windows update and it's searching for updates it jumps from 0 till 100% quickly and says that there is no update available for my pc (I don't get an error or something in the eventviewer). this can't be because I only have sp1 and Q329048 installed. when I look at the downloadsite of 'windows update' there are many updates available that aren't installed.

I performed a serious system clean:

    adware: spybot, ad-aware
cleared all temp files with cleanmgr.
    ran regscrub, jv16 powertools, easycleaner

ran sfc /scannow and everything seems to be ok but the problem stays.

does anyone know what the problem is?
or does anyone know some troubleshooting tips?

    grtz, mindbug

this article doesn't apply to me. I cannot download because there is nothing to download. when I run win update it jumps from 0 till 100% instantly and says that there aro no updates available, it even doesn't search my pc.
this can't be because I have only two updates installed (see above).
while at the download site there are many updates I've never have installed.
I also don't get an error message of any kind.

    but thanx for the reply,;)

    can anyone help me?

    grtz, mindbug

Did you delete the edb.log? What size is it? Mine is 5,120 kb.

How about the left screen in the update site. There is a place to personalize the site for your computer. Maybe that was changed somehow to not show updates?

    mindbug,

    's' for secure :)

https is a secure site - like those pages used for credit card transactions as opposed to http which isn't - but why Update needs this attribute I've no idea
