I attempted to install an Hp6122 printer to our church computer. It installed correctly once, printed the test pages ok. When we wattampeted to pring the church bulletins, 60 printed ok. After that only two copies then none would print. I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled the old 970C which worked fine. I downloaded drivers from the HP website and installed the 6122. The software loaded ok ( I'm not really sure) but the computer would not detect the printer. I found the printer cable was damaged so I replaced it and the printer appeared to be set up ok, until a print command was given. Then the blue screen of death arrived whenever a print command was given. I uninstalled the 6122 and reinstalled the 970. I did find out that each time I installed the software from the original Cd, the drivers showed up in German and Spanish, yet no choice was ever requested during the installation. I instructed the purchser to contact Comp USA about the cd and the printer. Now our Microsoft Office 2000 programs do not work and when I attempt to reinstall Office 2000 I get a "windows installer not installed, setup cannot continue..reinstall windows installer" How do I do that?

All you have done will need to be cleaned up or any other attempt to reinstall will fail. Additionally the proceedure will do a general cleanup of you system to accomplish this.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest full install for this printer.

Remove printers both old and new in add/remove. Then check the printers folder for an entry here if there delete both.

Then D/L this reg cleaner install but do not run:

    RegCleaner http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml
Look in first 2 cols for programs you thought you uninstalled or removed, these are the dregs left by the uninstaller. Also tag and remove any that you are POSITIVE are not supposed to be on your computer. After removing these go to the top Tools-Registry Cleanup-Do them all. Delete all it finds.

    Next.....

    Configure CleanMgr to max settings
    Go to Start-Run and type

    cleanmgr /sageset:1
The above need only be ran once (these settings will be remembered as the default until another sageset is ran).

It will present a menu select all except compress, then

    Go to Start-Run and type

    cleanmgr /sagerun:1
As long as /sageset above has been ran on this computer from now on the /sagerun is the only thing that needs to run

    Next.....

Before you reboot unplug the cable.

    Next......

    Reboot

These are for 95 98 ME only!

Boot to DOS (not shutdown to DOS). While booting hit F8 to startup menu. Chose "command prompt only ".

Type these commands exactly hit enter at the end (do not type the notes that are in parenthesis like this).

del c:\*.swp (may get file not found, is ok)
    del c:\windows\*.swp
    deltree c:\windows\shelli*.*
deltree c:\windows\temp\*.* (answer yes to all) "ALL "
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\history\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\spool\printers\*.*

Then reboot and do the same again hit F8 to boot menu, this time chose safe mode.

Run RegCleaner steps are with d/l instructions at top. Write them down if you can't print.

Finally reboot to full and reinstall the printer.

John I just reread you first post and I as I sometimes do missed something.

At the bottom about the windows installer.

Here it is download and install it first.

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...CEBBACD8-C094-4255-B702-DE3BB768148F#filelist

In answer to your direct email. Yes if you mess it up it can be reinstalled. But if you follow my directions correctly there should be no harm.

NOTE: in my first messge when I say unplug, I mean the printer cable.

Print the messages and do it John!
