Metal gear solid applying cheat code

I tried to apply cheat code as follows to enable Cheat mode:
as suggested :

"Start the game with the mgsi.exe -cheatenable command line."


Accordingly I did change mgsi application file to mgsi.exe-cheatenable as per above suggestion but it didnot work

CAN ANYBODY GUIDE HOW TO PROCEED TO ACHIEVE ABOVE

what is command line ???

 

Go to the shortcut that starts MGS, and edit it. I am not sure of the exact line there to start, but this is what should work. Right click the shortcut for it, select Properties and edit the Target line to be similar to this.
"c:\program files\metal gear\mgsi.exe -cheatenable "
Make sure the quotation marks are there. That is the 'command line' to start it.

thanks for your reply.As per your advice i did change the target file to mgsi.exe-cheatenable and respective game folder. thereafter,
i loaded the game and started a new game but on applying the cheats it failed . can u suggest any other way.is it that i have to apply any patch,etc.

The above link states that god mode and infinite ammo only works in certain areas, which ones I couldn't find out. I play that game on PS, it's real funny when you have the stealth suit on and punch someone in the face. You get the question mark above their head and right when they say HUH, do it again.
