    I new to XP..........
I'm trying to run a program that uses Java and it won't run.
It works fine on my comp running 98 so I know it's the comp and not the program.
I have installed all the latest updates for XP.

Do I have something set wrong? or does this have something to do with those updates?

No antivirus is installed in this comp yet.

    TIA, Lisa

    Get a Virus scanner going!!!!!!

I reccomend AVG as the best free scanner. Couple this with the available online scanners (use ocassionally in conjunction with AVG).

    Get it here:

    Online Virus scanners use anytime

As for your Java problem this ought to help you get a handle on it.

    Java and Java Tests

Both Microsoft and Sun Java can be installed but the Browser can use only the one selected in Advanced.

Test yours first then get what you want/need below.

    Thanks for the info!
I downloaded a java reader and all works fine.

I'm going to install Panda antivirus soon.
XP is a new computer and I just haven't had alot of time to mess with it yet.

zip for what it's worth, AV software should be the first thing after your OS that you install. At this point, do it sooner rather than later.
