    Hi

My PC goes to the Floppy drive first. It had Windows 98se on 'C'
( still has the boot files there...... it's a long story ) If something happened & I had to install XP again. How do I get my computer to boot from CD ??

XP was installed on 'F' - would like to know if I had to format & re-install how to boot from the XP CD. Better to know before I NEED to. I did not install XP it was someone else who made a dual boot for me. I didn't like it.

I have the full version of XP (HE) Hope someone can advise me.

    Thanks in advance.

    MiniB,

Go into the Bios > Boot section and arrange the boot order to suit, i.e.

    CD > Floppy > HDD

    Save and Exit.

Del or F1 on boot up will get you into the BIOS on most m/cs - generally there is an indication of which key to hit on the boot screen.

    Thank You

    Clear & precise - just what I need !

Before my PC went to get XP loaded my BIOS was available by hitting F2 - I was trying this due to a motherboard query & the F2 key didn't work.

I will try Del or F1 to see if the way to BIOS had been changed for some reason.

I normally stayed away from this area as I didn't undersatnd much about it. I now know a wee bit more & can access it on my LT without problem - just my DT that things have changed.

Thank you so much for your help - very much appreciated ;)

    Found the BIOS !

    Hi

Thought I would report back just in case my 'F' key problem & solution would help someone else.

The M$ inteliKeyboard has an 'F Lock' key - this needs to be locked in order to use the 'F' key functions ......

'F2' is now working and BIOS settings can be changed when booting
    :)

    Hi

You are not alone in not knowing about this key ..... the tech who was adding RAM to my PC did not know about this either - He knows now !

    I reckon it is a ' feature ' from M$
