NS 4.8 Netscape Mail Notification utility, @ symbol as in Mesenger

Hi everyone. My IP req'd a change in mail
usernames to the "username@domain" format.
Since NS 4.8 will not by default display the
"@" character when logging in to my mail server,
I changed the prefs.js file by adding
the line:

user_pref( "mail.allow_at_sign_in_user_name ", true);

This change allowed the "@" symbol to be
displayed but only worked for Messenger and
not Netscape Mail Notification (the tray -
active mail checker utility... which I use
for its intended purpose and also to "ping" the server to keep my connection alive).

Does anyone have a solution? I would be
most grateful.

You could try one of the many freeware pop email checkers instead of netscape notify.

Download.com has quite a few listed. Since a lot of these were designed for use with multiple email accounts, one of them should work for you. I use imap4 mail protocol, so I have not tested any of them.
