Hello Everyone: when i uncheck Hibernation to temporarily disable it, i cannot get the check mark to go back in the box, so i have to use System Restore to enable (and that puts check mark back)! Why do i have to do this and is there a better way to enable it again? Thanks, Tom

I'm not sure about that situation. Should work fine. Maybe your BIOS isn't really good with all the power options.

Wouldn't it be simpler to leave it set with hibernate enabled but set the time to "never "?

    tomxp,
Assuming your second question is where you receive an error message something like "IE has encounted a problem and needs to close" then try the two suggestions from "the eldergeek ". I had some success with method two...

tomxp - I can only make a guess but that guess would be you could use a BIOS update.

ACPI is changing so fast that it's easy to get out of date or have a hotfix/patch make changers so that a system that hibernated properly all of a sudden doesn't. Or maybe the symptoms you are seeing.

I played with mine for a while and can't make it do what yours is and some searching didn't turn up anything of use. If you were in bad trouble, I'd search harder.
