I added another Hard Drive to my system the other day but it seems to have stopped windows recognising the CD rom and CD burner.

I checked the MSN help site and it said it was something to do with the drive letters being moved out of place so i changed the new harddrive to T but the CD drives are still missing.

I've checked all the cables and both drives have power, i tried disconnecting them then reconnecting them but still nothing.

They dont seem be on the system at all, the PC seems to be ignoring them completly.

I'm using XP and i'm have no idea what makes and models the drives are.

Any help would be massivly appreciated.

    Cheers.

If you remember what drive letters the CD and burner had before, go into Admin tools, Computer management, disk management, and change the drive letters back.
    Restart.
If that fails, just change the CD drive to R for Reader, the burner to W for Writer, and restart.
Windows should pick up the changes.

Look in the registry for anything "NOIDE ", and delete anything found.
Add new hardware wizard, see if they detect.
Double check the jumpers on the drives.
Update the chipset drivers for the motherboard, especially if it's VIA.

If the drives don't appear in the CMOS, then you may have to change the IDE configuration. The hard drives should both be on IDE 1, the optical drives on IDE 2. If they already are, then try swapping the CDrom and CD-RW as master/slave on IDE 2 and see if they are recognised in the CMOS.
