I was trying to speed up my system by removing programs from the auto start feature. I don't think I did anything to the task manager, but it does not run anymore. I don't even know how to find the file name for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the desktop click Start, Run. Type in msconfig and hit OK. Select the Startup tab and check-mark TaskMonitor. OK out and reboot.

DeFalcon--By Task Manager, I understand you to mean the window you get when you simultaneously click Control+Alt+Delete. Correct??
The executable for this is Taskman.exe. Find it and click on the .exe.
If you do not find it (it should be in C:\Windows), perhaps try to restore it using System File Checker.
EDIT--In another post here, someone has the same problem but is running WinXP. A solution has to do with getting rid of the Klez32 virus. I do not know if Win98 has the same solution.

P.S. This is not Task Monitor (Taskmon.exe), which analyzes which programs you use most.
