Disabling CD autoplay

    I don't want the CD player to start up when I put a CD in.

    Hold down the 'Shift' key while inserting a CD.

    or

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

    NoDriveTypeAutoRun REG_DWORD set to 181.

    If you don't feel like holding down the Ctrl key, or editing your registry, do this:

    Click on MY COMPUTER.
    Right click on your CD drive's icon.
    Click on PROPERTIES
    Click on AUTOPLAY
    Select Music CD
    Click on TAKE NO ACTION
