:( Can anyone help me on this problem?
When I send a message with a picture included, the receiving person gets nothing but a square box with a red x in the middle of it. Also, when I receive a messege I sometimes get the same thing.
I can send a trial message to myself with the picture in it and it shows up perfectly, also when the person replies to the message telling me they didn't get a picture, the picture comes through to me.
My OS is WIN XP Home edition. My application program is Office 2000. I use Outlook Express to send/retrieve my mail. My ISP is SBC/pacbell.
    HELP

I followed all of the instructions listed in the URLs but still can't view pictures sent to me. All that comes through is the square box with a red x in the middle.
Is there some setting on my computer that needs to be changed?
I made sure that the "send picture with message" was checked.
Could my ISP provide me with any additional information to correct this problem. I have a DSL modem.

Hmm....how about the size of the pictures you're trying to send? Some ISP's/email services have a limit to file size sent through their servers...and some of those limits are pretty small.

An emailed picture should be around the 50 to 100K size...to avoid irritating the dialup recipients ;)...and if you're sending in bmp format, the file size can easily exceed a meg.

:confused:Miz it doesn't matter what size the picture is.
Can I uninstall Outlook Express and reinstall it without loosing my contact list? I thought maybe this would solve my problem. Do you think it might? :(

    Hi, SissySue ~

I don't think it is a problem w/ OE. If you send and receive them yourself, I would bet that it is the ISP on the receiver's end.

Are any of the addresses AOL or Yahoo accounts?? I personally have experienced this many, many times with only those ISPs that the receiver says they get the red X when everyone else does not.

I don't care what the ISP says, they do in fact make a habit of stripping out images, backgrounds and sounds in an effort to reduce overhead.

Bill I had already tried that link but it did not work.

Yes Bruce some of them are AOL and Yahoo but, what about when they send me pictures? I also get the square box with a red x in it.

Is there nothing I can do to solve this irritating problem?

    Hi, SissySue ~

If it is coming from their account, yes, it can still be stripped from one of the ISP servers before it gets handed to yours.

I, too, was irritated with it and I simply will not correspond with individuals with those type of accounts/services as I always send HTML documents. The people that matter and are serious got with the program and switched to regular ISPs. :)

As a continued thought on all of this. Are these pictures saved on your hard drive somewhere...or pictures in emails that you are trying to forward to others?

Daizy the pictures are stored on my C: drive under "My Pictures ". When the recipient receives my msg there are no pictures, however, when they reply to my msg telling me they could not open the picture, the msg back to me has the picture that I originally sent to them. This doesn't make sense to me.
