I have a neighbor using Windows 2000 professional. I installed and set his system about a year ago. He has approached me that all the accounts are working correctly including the administrator account however, when he tries to get onto his account the system gives him a pop up box saying that the account is corrupted and that a new account has been issued. I have not seen the system nor have I troubleshoot it, I wouldn't know how to since this is the first time I have ever seen this type of error. Could someone lighten me up to this? Newt?
    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried just deleteing the corrupted account and then re-creating the old account?

That'll work but all the user's settings from the account will be gone. And if she/he had any protected documents there is a chance they won't open any longer.

Still - it may be the only choice. I'd save as much as possible though and copy it over the default stuff after you have the new account added. Favorites & desktop mainly. I don't know about the nethood folder that has record of all mapped shares - with it you may not need to map them over again but really not sure.

The others are either temporary or may be the cause of the problem so I'd hesitate to put them in with the new account.
