New computer. XP. New programs. Thrilled to have a program that lets me copy MY CDs. Only problem.....it won't! I know it's a demo program and I know it costs to get the upgraded versions and I know it costs every time you upgrade the upgraded version. What I need is some feedback on what is out there that is better and hopefully, not expensive, to copy CDs with. When I tried to copy a whole music CD, it went fine. It copied. It played. No problem. I tried it with another CD. No go. Thought maybe the disc was defective. Tried another one. Tried to copy the same CD as before. No go. Still got the error message. OH! The error message! Here it is:

    E800417a1 READ AUDIO TIMEOUT
    E80070057 PARAMETER IS INCORRECT

I could contact Roxio, but doubt I'll get a happy answer. They'll probably just tell me to BUY the most recent version. Should I? It costs about $70! Should I check Sam's Club? Is there something out there that works better? Easy to use? All I really want to do is make some extra copies of my CDs and maybe make some mixes for my pleasure. HONEST!

    Thanks!

    :)

I agree with Abraxas! Nero is da man!

But the fix for Roxio is at the Roxio site new driver and in some cases requires a firmware update to the CDR!

Thank you, both, for all the tips and hints. At this point in time it looks like I may not have to download or purchase any CD programs. It seems that my Windows Media Player does what I need it to do. Hubby was playing with it and was able to download the CDs to my hard drive and then copy them to a blank. It takes a bit longer than going from disc to disc, but we have time and don't plan on doing it too often. I will keep Nero in mind, though, as I've seen other good reports on it.

    Thanks again....and...

    HAPPY EASTER!!!!

    :)
