New 19 inch CRT recommended resolution is 1024x768, however 800x600 is what fills the screen. 1024x768 will not fill the screen.
Don't understand. Please advise. Thanks for your time.

    Happy Easter

Can you describe a little more completely what it is that happens on the higher resolutions?

There may be adjustments on the monitor itself for widening or lengthening the display area if the amount to be filled is not too large.

Your monitor should have have some controls on it to adjust the horizontal and vertical screen image along with other things. That information should be in the manual you got with your monitor. I see Abraxas was faster with your answer.

With the higher resolutions the viewable screen area becomes small in the top left corner of the CRT? Scope adjustments will not solve this issue. Will higher resolutions provide a more desireable picture? Using Intel(R) chipset graphics driver PV2.1

    Appreciate your replies.

You should look for an updated driver for your video. And it wouldn't hurt to look at the monitor in the Device Manager and be sure it is the correct one.

Whether higher resolutions will be a good thing depends.....

If you are using a large monitor (I'd say, 19 inches or larger), you may enjoy the larger screen area. But personally, with monitors of 17 inches or smaller, I prefer the 800x600 so that everything is easily viewable. This is totally a personal preference (and a matter of visual acuity ;) ).

Thank you for your visual acuity? I must be satisfied with 800x600 with true color 24 bit. I have no choice?

Must I be satisfied with 800x 600 with true color 24 bit? Or is there a set up that is better? Driver has been updated. Thanks for your visual acuity?

If you have the best driver and the correct monitor is specified in the Device Manager, I don't know what else to try.

    Sorry :( .

I shall be satisfied with 800x600 with 24 bit true color. Have no choice. Screen appears ok. Thanks.
