    Afternoon people.

I need some advice\tips on how to increase the performance of an old(ish) computer. It's a p2 400MHz, 64MB, more than 1 GB of free disk space on c: disk, have run both scandisk, defrag, removed a couple of things from msconfig. He's using second edition of win98. He mainly uses computer for surfing and office products + msn and such.

Is there any good utilities that can clean up his system ? doesnt micorosoft have some sort of registry clean up ?

Would an upgrade till 128MB improve performace a lot ?

Im also considering to re-install win98.

Any suggestion are more than welcome.

    Cheers :)

Well, that was quite a good PC 4 years ago.
If he does not have a lot of apps that would be missed, I would
format and reinstall '98SE, and buy some RAM.
    regards

    laasunde,
I run a p2 3.2GB maindrive 366Mhz 256mb pc133 ram networked computer, that has an additional 10GB western digital drive as the slave, and i run it everyday with massive usage...
increase the ram - set scan-defrag to run once a week and GO....
