I've been told that if you have Windows 2000 Professional installed that you cannot install Windows 98SE and do a dual boot setup, and that you have to install Win98 first. So here's my question...

I have two physical hard drives, and Win2k is obviously installed on C:. Is it possible to install Win98 on D: without having to reinstall everything, and keep the two completely seperate, and only use C: with Win2k, and only use D: with Win98?

I really need Win98 for programs that will not run in Win2k, but I would rather not have to reinstall everything to get it... If this is possible, could someone give me a step by step walkthrough?

You'll need a Boot Manager progam. Can probably search this forum for "boot manager" and find several suggestions.

I have win98 on C drive and win2k pro on D drive. It does not matter what drive letters they are put on, win2k pro will always be the default primary OS.

You don't need a boot manager, just install both os's on separate drives. Best to fdisk first and install both os's as FAT32, that way you will be able to view and open files on either drive, in either os.

BUT, getting a boot manager would avoid having to re-install EVERYthing.

    Hi Steve,

Can you elaborate on that, and maybe point me to one? I've searched the forum as you suggested, and I see a lot of people talking about boot managers, but no reference to where to find one or how it would allow me to do this without reinstalling everything.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. :)
