There are two administrators on my computer. When the logon page comes up, both profile icons are there, and they display the number of programs that person has open, and how many unread Outlook Express emails that person has. The second one works fine, but mine is displaying an incorrect number of unread emails. For example, right now, I have no unread emails in OE, but the display says I have 12. I can find nothing in the administrative part of the Control Panel to fix this. Does anyone have an idea about how to repair it?

    Hi, slave ~

    Do this:
    • 'Start' > 'Run' > type 'regedit' > Enter
    • Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ UnreadMail

If you want to keep the notification active but correct the number:
    • Select the subfolder below 'UnreadMail' with your e-mail account
    • In the right-hand window pane, right-click 'Message Count' > 'Modify'
    • Under 'Value data:', change to '0' > 'OK'
If you want to eliminate an e-mail account:
    • Select the subfolder below 'UnreadMail' with respective e-mail account name
    • Right-click > 'Delete' > 'Yes'
And if you want to rid yourself of the whole irritating shebang as did I:
    • Select 'UnreadMail'
    • Right-click > 'Delete' > 'Yes'
    *Boom* there you go!

Thanks, Bruce: I think I may have to get rid of it altogether; when I went into my registry to modify the email count, it was already at zero. Any thoughts?

The plot thickens...I decided to get rid of it. I deleted the entire Unread Mail folder in the registry, and XP put back my OE address only. As a result, there is nothing under the other user's icon, and there is a correct unread mail count under mine! Since it's accurate, I may just leave it. But this wasn't the result I expected, to say the least.
