hp scasnjet 3500c

    I am trying to install a hp scanjet 3500c to my computer, it's installed, software is installed but when i try to scan, i get a message that it's not communicating. i re-installed software, checked the scanner to be certain it's plugged up right...Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
