On a pc of mine the color quality will not change from 16 bit to 256 bit quality. When you apply it always goes back to 16.I have tried everything. The computer says to reboot for the changes to take effect but it always stays at 16 bit.I can't even look at pictures because they are grainy.Thank you for your help.

Do you have your video card drivers installed?

If all of your choices are only 16 bit, & 256 color, then It would seem to me that you do not have the video card drivers installed. With the drivers installed, you should also have at least two more choices. High Color, & True Color.

You should have a CD somewhere with the video card drivers on it.

    Hello,boogeo

    Restart into safe mode
in the device manager remove the video card
restart the computer & windows should reinstall
it for you if no go then you would need the the
CD that came with the computer & see if you can
    reinstall them from the CD

    Good luck

If you don't have the cd that came with your computer, you can try going to the manf. site of your comp (ie. www.compaq.com or whatever) and put in the make and model of your comp and download a driver from there. Good luck

Do you mean 16 color or 16bit. My guess is 16 color.

And that would deffinetly be due to a video driver problem

I say this as 16bit is higher resolution than 256.
