When trying to install Windows XP update Q329441 - Critical Update, I get the following message:

    No Updates Were Installed

The following items failed to install. To try installing them again, click Review and install updates, and then click Install Now again.

    810577: Security Update

    View installation history

I viewed my history and all it states is that the update failed.

Has anyone had this happen, how did you fix it?

Always best to download an update and try to run it locally.

Or turn off the Microsoft update thing and load BigFix and let it manage updates for you. I have not had one from them fail and they usually will alert you before Microsoft does.

    Bruce,

Am trying to apply the following updates:

    Q329441
    810577
    811630

    I located the CatRoot2 folder.

Opened folder and found the following two folders:

    {127D0A1D-4EF2-11D1-8608…
    {F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5…

The first folder has text items underneath and recovered file fragments, second folder has only text items.

Should I delete just the items or items and folders?

Not sure what I am doing and don’t want to ***** up.

    Thanks for you help,

    Larry

    Hi, Larry ~

Do NOT touch the 'CATROOT' folder which is the first one.

Delete only the entire 'CATROOT2' folder.
