    Hello,
A Strange thing happens to my IE (6.0 on XP).

    I open up a webpage

If I hold down CTRL or CTRL+SHIFT when clicking a link, the link appears in a new window. (If I CTRL+SHIFT it will actually appear in a different, existing window)

The new window doesn't have the same settings as my current window (which is usually Maximized, but I've tested it with windowed). The new window is always in windowed mode, however the window edges are stretched to the edges of the screen. Thus, it looks like it's maximized, but it really isn't.

(As a result, if I try to close the window I don't actually close the window, but the one behind it because I move the mouse)

I've tried this on friends computers and CTRL clicking does nothing, whereas CTRL+SHIFT does what it's supposed to and opens a new window with the same settings as the host window.

I had previously installed popup killer software. That software is also on the friend's tested computers. I uninstalled it and ran a spybot killer that searches for web objects that I saw in a different post, and that didn't help.

Any ideas where to go next? I'm dying! :)

haha, I guess that might help ;-)

Well, any popup killer kills any window popups unless you hold control.

Thus, with this strange qwirk I can't use popup killers effectively...thus I'm trying to figure out how to make it go away.

The fact it's different on other people's computers suggests that there might be some setting or service pack or something that would allow for me to change the way IE behaves.

    Hi, Logan ~

Mmmm...that was clear as mud. What you have described thus far are normal actions.

How to make what go away?

Make it not "fake" maximize things.

It is documented that IE cannot always remember maximized window perferences.

Are you saying that when you open a web page, it opens automatically maximized?

If you are closing the one behind it because you are moving your mouse, may I suggest you look before you click and perhaps don't move your mouse?

I prefer maxmimized windows, actually. But only if they're truly maximized and do not just have their edges stretched. If you'd like I could post screenshots...

I do appreciate you spending time to help me, but why bother putting a rude spin on it? I don't expect a mechanic to say to me that since my car pops out of third gear randomly that I should just stop using my 3rd gear. I apologize for not being as clear in my first post, but it's such a tough thing to describe I got caught up in trying to do that without making my question clear. But, there's nothing forcing anyone to help me... and I'd prefer this to slide to the last page rather than waste your time by making you search for a way to be rude enough that it's apparent, but not rude enough you come off as a total jerk.

    HI, Logan ~

What's the story over there??

I was in no way being rude. Apparently you are a youngster who missed my alluding reference to the classic joke where the fellow goes to the doctor's office and says "it hurts when I do this!" and the doctor replies "then stop dioing that ".

I am sorry if you took the 'mouse-moving' parallel as some sort of veiled dig, but that is furthest from fact.

Rude? Who used a left-handed insult?
