For some time now I have had recurring problems with my machine.. it freezes ALOT & refuses to boot up at times, even
w/ctrl/alt/delete -- it starts then goes to black screen & appears to be in standby, altho it is set to never go into standby or hibernate -- Other times it starts in safe mode. (Scan disk comes out fine.. no problems found..) It continues to do this even after reformatting - several times now! I have checked out clean by McAfee & SpyBot & SpyWareBlaster & AdAware6 (when they work!).. But various programs dont function properly or not at all & at times the whole program will just dissapear.. I couldn't help but notice that some of the same programs are affected each & every time..like spybot and spywareblaster and adaware6 .. they may lock machine up when I try to run them, or sometimes they "lose" the .exe, & other times whole folders just dissapear from my Programs folder! Once my whole briefcase dissapeared! The rest of the times just exe's, or whole program folders. This last time I had sync copies of the exe's & setup files (for spywareblaster & spybot & adaware ) in my briefcase and in my documents .. & all 9 of them were affected at once... either missing completely, or non functional! I was going thru folders & checking things out last night & found that my McAfee files are being "UN-Archived" , & as soon as I change them back to archves they change themselves back again.. to where none of the boxes (in properties box) are checked! Not hidden or archive or read only.....
Also, when I go to start/run/msconfig, I am showing
MCAgentExe .. Registry (Machine Run) ..
    C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\Agent\mcagent.exe
and .. MCUpdateExe... Registry (Machine Run) ..
    C:\PROGRA~1\MCAFEE.COM\AGENT\MCUPDATE.EXE ... AND ..
VirusScan Online .. Registry (Machine Run) ..
    "C:\PROGRA~1\MCAFEE.COM\VSO\mcvsshld.exe "
But my machine tells me the last two are non-existant folders!
Also I am showing PCHealth .. Registry (Machine Run) .. C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\Support\PCHSchd.exe -s .. ( that cant be right ) And I am also showing a
LoadPowerProfile .. Registry (Machine Run) .. Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll, LoadCurrentPwrScheme, and
LoadPowerProfile .. Registry (Machine Service) .. Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll LoadCurrentPwrScheme .. (which I hear arent usually there unless you are having problems... Which I AM! But thats all they say......Is here anyone who can help me on this at all?
PLEASE---I AM LOSING MY MIND-- AND GETTING DESPERATE!
    ( I Love my machine! & it's dying! )
Thanks for any help you can offer..

    Hi xntrik

Im certianly not a tech geek ether, im not sure what the problem
is, but here are some things to get started.
Hopefully someone here with McAfee experiance will step in..:)

    These startups are normal:>
To run Windows Me & 98& se, Scanregw, Systray, the two Load Power Profile entries, State Manager and PC Health are the only needed items.
Start run type msconfig ,startup tab
[1] If you would uncheck everything except these , note everthing while there and post it here.[2]
    After restart
    [3 & 4] then do atleast two online virus checks , please:>

    Command AntiVirus: <http://www.commandondemand.com/eval/index.cfm>

    Trend AntiVirus: <http://housecall.antivirus.com>

    Symantec: <http://security2.norton.com/ssc/home.asp>
[5]Do an online trojan scan, http://scan.sygate.com/

You could do this after results from above)
    [6]Then:>
Useing msconfig to eliminate unessesary startups, and troublshoot you're system
Go to start run type msconfig hit ok

To run Windows Me & 98& se, Scanregw, Systray, the two Load Power Profile entries, State Manager and PC Health are the only needed items.
Check out the others in one or more of these places.

You may have noticed when you installed some of these adware/spyware cleaners that they warn you that they will identify other cleaners as spyware. In other words, unless you carefully sift through the entries of what is being deleted, they will delete one another or parts of one another.
