[MERGED] OE won't respond to a Hyperlink

OE won't respond to a Hyperlink

I have XP Home & OE6. My problem is that when I receive any email with a hyperlink (in blue) & when clicking on it (the hand is there) the site does not come up. Nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciagted.

Hi artbea- If you have a pop-up stopper program running and you click on a hyperlimk, many of them will not allow a window to open to display the web page. In mine, I hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the hyperlink when I want to open a new window. Hope this helps, Clydeo22

URLs don't work in Outlook Express

Here's the problem, when you click on a link in an email in Outlook Express what used to happen was a browser window would open to that page. Now absolutely nothing happens. I have to copy & paste links in an open browser window to view.


You need to re-register the URL monitor. If you are having any kind of hyperlink trouble try this.

Click on "Start" then go to "Run" and enter:

"REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL" (without quotes).

You should then have a dialog box telling you that the procedure was completed.

Hi again artbea- Sorry that didn't work out. Have the hyperlinks ever worked? Have you changed settings for OE? Are you running a anti-popup type of program? If you are, I should have mentioned that each program has its own key combination for allowing popups for certain sites or as desired. Let us know, please. Clydeo22.

 

Try this.

Go to Start > Run and type each of these (wih OK after each, of course):

regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll

regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll

regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll

regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

If that doesn't do it, try copying msoe.dll from the Outlook Express folder to the system32 folder, then Run:

regsvr32 msoe.dll

I am not sure where this thread started, but I have nonetheless tamed the very issue of hyperlinks in OE not working.

Please see my comprehensive post here.

Despite the three M$KB articles mentioned in it published to address this issue, no single one worked on a series of machines w/ XP/IE SP1. If you've tried them w/o success, my fix will work.
