I created a userid for my son, with restricted priviledges. Now as an admin user I would like to install games so he can play using his own userid.
But at Add/Remove programs, W2K never asks me who I am installing this program for. It just goes and installs it for all users (I don't wanna clutter my own Programs Menu).

Is there any way of doing that?

Try logging in as the restricted user and then installing the program.

That is the whole idea... I want to resrtrict them doing stuff like installing programs. So as a restricted user they are not allowed to install new programs

Desktop shortcuts and Start menu / Programs shortcuts are stored in the subfolders of "Documents and Settings ". The shortcuts in "All Users" subfolder are, of course, available to everyone. By editing the contents of these subfolders you can determine what shortcuts will will appear on a user's desktop or Start menu. Some programs, during installation, will ask you where you want the shortcut to be placed - but most son't ask and simply put the shortcut in the All Users subfolder, which makes it available to everyone who logs on. You will find that some programs (not too many, fortunately, since they only complicate things) will not run properly, if at all, for a user who is not a member of the Administrator group, but this limitation can be overcome most (but not all) of the time by using a "runas" shortcut (directions for which can be found in the w2k Help files).
