No AGP + Error 216

I'm still working through the link. Nothing seems to be working but here's what I have as of now:

1. Only happens when I sign in as me.

2. Doesn't happen with any other user, including those without Administrative rights. Not a rights issue. Not a hardware issue.

3. Happens in safe mode also, thus eliminating a Startup folder problem.

4. Tried eliminating all desktop icons. No help.

5. Tried the file association change. No help.

I guess I could try uninstalling some more programs, but if it's a program that doesn't uninstall itself correctly, I'm *******.

 

Well, about midnight I gave up. To save any scattered remnants of my sanity (and to clean up an overflowing 20gig drive) I reformatted and started from scratch. It's amazing how much faster it runs and I can actually find something every now and then.

B U M M E R, lot of work, but at least you have a fast system. Nice time to take a "image" backup
