We have Outlook 98 running on Windows 98 with Office 97. Net folders appears to install correctly according to the dialog boxes. Share is on the file menu. When invoked on a folder the message "command not available..." is displayed. I followed Microsoft's fix but that didn't fix anything. This works on other computers with the same or similar configuration in the office. All of the needed files seem to be there and are the correct version. All of the registry keys that I could track seem to be correct but something is wrong. One possible factor is ActiveSync on this computer. Unfortunately I need this to work on this computer. TIA for any ideas.

Does the command work with ActiveSync disabled or uninstalled? Perhaps you can run filemon and regmon from www.sysinternals.com to detect which file or registry setting is corrupt/missing.

Thanks for your reply. I had already thought about using Filemon or Regmon but that means that I have to put Net folders on a computer that doesn't need it and hope that the installation goes OK. I have tried it with ActiveSync off or on and it doesn't make a difference. I had Net folders installed on another computer that had ActiveSync and there was no problem. We also try to use the same version of ActiveSync on all machines.

I have everything that I could find printed out on Net Folders and I am going to check file versions. My thought is that the program is trying to access a particular file that was installed with another program, probably a dll, that has been overwritten with a version that doesn't have what Net folders needs but every other program can use. If all else fails, I will set the pertinent computers to share contacts using Briefcase but I would prefer to do it right.

Thanks for your ideas. Please let me know about any other suggestions.
