    Hi
I would like to send a song with WMP as an email attachment.

I have it on my play list in windows media player, but when I try to send it no one can get the song.

They get the message "file not found ".

I don't think I'm actually sending the song because the attachment is not very large.

Can any one tell me how to download the song as an attachment?

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi Geri
Have you got the song saved somewhere on your hard drive? (If you're not sure where you've put it...do a search (Start button.......search........for files or folders) for it.

Once you've located it, you can right click and choose to send to Mail recipient.

Most songs, are rather large, however, so you might want to zip it before sending, or use a file splitter.

    Hi Daizy
    Thanks.

I sent it to a friend and she emailed me back and said that it didn't come with a license from this computer.
    ???
I tried license manager on my windows media player, But I'm kind of lost here on what they want and how to attach it to the email.

If this is easy to do, can you give me a clue. If it's not that's OK too.
    Thanks
    Geri

Is this a file that you created using Media Player? If so, in Media Player click tools>options>copy music. Uncheck the line next to the box that says protect content. Then, make the file again and then try sending it.

You have stumbled onto Digital Rights Management. If you download the song through WMP 7 and above, and played it on your computer, it will only work with your computer. Sending the song to a friend is useless, as your friend's GUID number is way different from yours. However, if they have WMP 6.4, your friend may have got the message that she/he needs to upgrade to play it, and then does it. Then, of course, it won't play anyway.

    Lovely.

Thanks you two. I see now what Geri's problem is. I was having a heck of a time wrapping my brain around this one.

Despite DRM/DMCA, this should not be that difficult.

The playlist will be of little help to you IMHO. That can be nothing more than an MRU if not a shortcut.

What is the song? What is the file format? Did you download it and if so, how and to where?

    Hi Bruce

The song is called "Pray for the fish" The format is "wma" and I loaded it from a CD I bought, to "My play list" in windows media player 7.

    Thanks

    Zander
I unchecked Enable personal rights management???

Under Media Library It has "other applacation access rights" and "read only" is checked and "internet site rights" has "no access" is checked.

    Does this help?

    Thanks

That should do the trick. I'm using a newer version of the player than you are so the options aren't quite the same. That's the one you want however. The access rights shouldn't cause you any problem for what you want to do. All they do is control what kind of access other apps or internet sites etc. are allowed to have to your library. For example, if you have the one related to applications set to read only you can play the files or view playlists with a different app but it won't allow you to edit the file with it. Full access would allow you to do edit any part of the library with any app you want to use.

    Hi, Geri ~

Zander is correct and you will need to rip the track from the CD. Simply click the red 'Record' button to rip a single track or an entire CD. You can only copy as a '.wma' file in WMP7, but you convert it to an MP3 from one of the many, many free converters available on the web with a simple Google.
