I know how to change the folder where OE6 stores messages.
But I need to know how can I change other data storage location. For example, message rules: everytime I reformat my C drive, I loose all my rules and have to rebuild them from scratch.

So is there a way to change the location outlook express 6 use to store all kind of data?

sallam--As far as changing location where OE stores messages, click OE Tools|Options|Maintenance tab|Store Folder|Change.
I do not know where Message Rules are stored (it would seem logical they would be in the same folder as messages, but I do not have any Message Rules so cannot check), but if you are often reformatting your hard drive, I am not surprised Rules and message data are erased. Changing storage location will not help. You would have to backup them up to another partition (if your hard drive is partitioned) or external storage before reformatting.

Well, I did misread your first sentence. But the rest of your question (how to change data storage location) did not show any understanding that you will have to put the data either in another partition or in external storage to protect it from the reformatting.
I found out (by using www.google.com, which you should learn to use) where Message Rules are kept

And of course I am sure someone as smart as you knows how to Export your Address Book ( "yourname.wab" probably in C:\Windows\Application Data\Address Book) and how to back up your email message files (.dbx files in the Store Folder already discussed).

exactly the info I was looking for.
But, I've been there before, but was hesitated, as they don't mention IE6 on Windows XP in the 'The information in this article applies to:' list.
You sure it works with IE6 on Windows XP?

    Another great solution.

Get an e-mail program like Eudora or Calypso and there is another one which I forgot the name of.

At least with Eudora everything is within its own folder.

Put them on a partition other than C: and they won't get lost with a format.

Change addresses to Eudora Nicknames and quit worrying about OE address book.
