I use Netscape 7.02 under Windows XP. The profile manager says that you might want separate profiles for business and personal, which I do want. I'd like them both open at once, but haven't figured out how to do that. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Dennis,

Thanks for your quick reply. My main drive is not partitioned, but I do have an external additional drive. I just installed a copy of Netscape on it and installed it with one of the profiles. If I open it and then try to open Netscape from the C drive, it starts with the same profile. I don't say that your idea won't work, only that I'll need more instruction for it to work if it will.

    Thanks again

    Hi rusty1

We might be chasing our tails...
But.. #2 profile (copied over, calling to c:\ paths ?) and #2 Netscape program (target path ?) would have to be gone through and make sure all "Paths" are pointing to External" drive letter. Including going into email| server settings| and changing local directory path so mail is written to external drive.

    Dennis,

I changed the local directory path in email/server settings in the copy of the Netscape program on F (the external drive.) I copied the profile folder from C: to F: But I'm not sure where the #2 profile needs to have paths changed.

    Welcome to the Forum, Rusty2!

    Hi rusty2,

I can tell you that it is definitely not doable on the same drive. As to whether or not it can be done, using two separate drives, I'm not certain. I'm looking for that answer and will post back as soon as I have more info...

Open two profiles in the same time (in single OS)? NO, you can't.
One way to get this working (very complicated), you will need to have two virtual OSes. I.e. two complete different instance of Netscape running in two different OSes (such as virtual windows).
    Short answer, you can't.

My Suggestion: open single NS profile, but within single profile, you can have multiple email accounts.

Thanks to all for your helpful answers. Since I'm not up to installing virtual windows at this time, I'll settle for checking one profile by webmail while the other profile is open. With two accounts on one profile, can you have different return addresses?

    Thanks again.

Yes, you can create multiple email accounts within one Netscape profile.
Each email account would enable you to have it's own return address, organisations, SMTP and POP3 servers.
(or use the same if you want)

Antony / Ramona enlighten me... This involves 2x different ISP's, one for home called ISP.home and a different ISP for work called ISP.work
Set up Netscape at the work using ISP.work linking into the web. Set up 2x email accounts in this work profile. One to send/poll the ISP.work email server and the other account to send/poll the ISP.home email server. At home repeated the process, but naturally you would them be linking into the web with ISP.home link.

Two accounts actually are more convenient for me than two profiles since it is easier to store messages in folders of the other account when appropriate. I'm set up the way I want now, thanks to the help of all of you.
