    Hi,

I recently decided to upgrade to upgrade my main HD from basic disk to dynamic disk. After the reboot I received this stop error message: STOP 0x0000007B Inaccessible boot device.
I hit reboot and this continued to happening in normal boot. I went into safe mode and rebooted and I was then able to get back into windows, but in disk management I now see 'disk 0 Dynamic unreadable'. I can still use my system as normal and have had no other problems.

    I found this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;280724

I had 3 partitions(C,D,E) on the main drive, in 'My Computer' I can now only see 2 partitions(C,D). In the support article it did mention about partitions causing problems when upgrading to dynamic disk and the resolution was too upgrade to SP2, 3 - I'm using SP3 at the moment so I'm pretty stuck at what to do.

I'm running Win2k Server at present and I'm going to upgrade to Windows Server 2003 when it's released soon. I'm not sure whether upgrading to this would solve the problem or not.

    Any ideas anyone please??

    Regards

    Justin

I would check with Microsoft. The fact they had a hot fix for the problem that was not generally available but would be sent if you had the problem could well mean the whole patch was not made part of SP3 but may still be needed as a seperate patch.

There shouldn't be any charge for it and it certainly won't make things any worse. Just use the link in the article to get in touch with M$ to get whatever fix they have available.

Do you think upgrading to Win2003 Server will make fix the problems?

My system is functional so i don't mind waiting for this to be released then upgrading.

It may. But I'm always leary of upgrading the OS to fix a problem. Some need to be fixed before the upgrade or they become next to impossible to take care of. And often no way to know until after you do the deed.

I do know a new OS version has problems because of things the developers never thought to check for and that is why we see patches and then SPs show up so quickly.
