Here at our office, we just recently had a security breach, which has caused concern for a firewall. Our business is very small with a very basic network hooked up to a DSL line. The most computers that have been hooked up to our network is 12 workstations and 1 server. I thought the easiest solution would be to install a software firewall on each computer. Both Zone Alarm and Norton Firewall have compatibility issues with Windows NT. So, then I thought to look into a hardware firewall, specifically the Linksys DSL Firewall Router (model BEFSX41).

I've only found reviews that concern small home networks of just a few workstations. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice regarding this model or any other firewall within a small business network. My biggest concern is whether or not I can simply plug our current router into 1 of the the firewall's 4 ports. Or do I need to buy multiple firewalls and link them all together?

Actually in your situation you could buy the Linksys BSFR11 single port and buy a 16 port switch for future expansion.
Then tell your ISP to open their router up and allow all traffic.

Since you can get the BEFSX41 for as little as $61 (newegg.com), I think it would be a good way to go. Plug the server to it, which ever 2 additional PCs are the heaviest hitters, and a switch into the remaining port.

Or the single port would do fine with a switch plugged into it as ssmith10pn suggested. If the price of the 4port with firewall were higher, I'd for sure go with the single but at these amounts, I don't see it making much difference.
