When I am on an internet site and I hit the back button, to return to the previous site, the sites will stack on top of each other and everythings jumbled. Or I will hit refresh and it will take one web site and stack copies , of that site, on top of each other. And what does it mean when the arrow next to the back button is gone and in its place is the number six in bold type. This number has appeared in other places on my computer. I recently downloaded a free WinZip program and removed it, I think unsuccessfully. I obviously do not know what I am doing!! Checked for virus and none was detected. Please help before I destroy this machine.

    Hi mtjones Welcome :)
When you hit back button how many IE's are open beforehand?

"And what does it mean when the arrow next to the back button is gone and in its place is the number six in bold type" "

Im not sure maybe others here will have a clue.

"This number has appeared in other places on my computer "
    Where ?

" "I recently downloaded a free WinZip program and removed it, I think unsuccessfully" "

Always always uninstall do not delete, then look for left overs of the program usualy in program files and delete the left overs
and any shortcuts it may leave behind, so did you uninstall it or what ?
if you did not un -- reinstall and if you want uninstall >control panel addremove uninstall......

If you would, give us more info to.
what zip program was that ?
make of PC ? OS version ?
Open an IE on its toolbar go help about internet explorer
    version ?
    cypher strength ?
    update ver ? and q#'s ?
any other symtoms even if they seam unrelated ?

    Later
    Lonny
