Hi All- When I run msconfig and open the Startup tab, I see entries for programs that I've deleted. Is there a way to open this file in a text editor so that I can clean it up? Or, is there an even easier solution? Thanks for your help, this board is the greatest!

    "This file" is the registry!

    Feel comforable editing it?

Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and select the RUN- key. There you will find most of the UNselected entries.

Any that are not there may be in a folder called \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Disabled Startup Items.

Get this and make life easier on yourself.

    Let Startup Cop Do it.

Turn 'em off. Turn 'em on. Pack for removal.

Hi again- I found the entries in the registry and deleted them. All is well and I have a slimmed down Startup section! Thanks for the quick responses. I'll download Startup Cop when I get a chance. Thanks!
